Gavino Garcia, 78, of Montrose, IA, died Tuesday February 5, 2013 at his home. He was born on March 4, 1934 in Ennis, TX, the son of Gavino and Lucille Trevino Garcia. On October 27, 1958 Gavino was united in marriage to Beatrice Garcia in Adrian, MI. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Delia Naplin, Knoxville, IA, Alice Boyd and husband Mike, Keokuk and Berta Boyd (deceased), son Gavino Garcia and wife Tammy, Montrose, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brother, Juan Garcia, St. Paul, MN, sister, Nancy Franco, St. Paul, sister-in-law, Josie Garcia Reger, SLP, MN and numerous extended family in St. Paul and Texas. He was also preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, David Boyd and two sisters. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was of the Christian faith. He was employed at Armour Dial in Ft. Madison for nineteen years, retiring in 1978. Gavino loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time fishing, deer hunting and working in his garden. He was a great cook and his family enjoyed the wonderful meals he made. Gavino was a devoted husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa who leaves for his family many special memories. There will be no services or visitation.
