Gary Lee Starr, 46, of Keokuk, died Friday, May 8, 2015 at his home in Keokuk. He was born May 12, 1968 in Keokuk, Iowa the son of Chester and Sharon Clouse Starr. He graduated from Keokuk Senior High School with the Class of 1986. He later graduated from Southeastern Community College in Keokuk. Gary was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Keokuk. He was employed with Par Mar Security as a security guard. He enjoyed reading, watching TV and watching old movies. Gary is survived by his mother, Sharon Bennett of Keokuk, two brothers, Dale Starr and his wife Mary of Jacksonville, FL, and Kenneth Jones and his wife Diana of Warsaw, IL, three sisters, Sharon Starr Voorhes of Houston, TX, Patty Handyside and her husband John of Hannibal, MO, and Debra Jones of Keokuk, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Jamey Stout officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Visitation will be held from noon until service time with the family meeting with friends at that time. Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Public Library.
