Gary E. Humphrey, 69 of Keokuk died Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA. He was born on July 30, 1944 in Keokuk the son of Edward and Wilma Shafer Humphrey. Gary graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1963. Through the years Gary had been employed at National Carbide, Sheller Globe and Ringstrom Electric all in Keokuk. He was a member of the Keokuk Saddle Club. Gary had a special passion for horses. He loved raising, training and riding them. He enjoyed woodworking and made picture frames, show boxes and furniture. Gary is survived by two daughters, Karla Conlee and her husband Dan of Panama City, FL and Vickie Anderson of Palmetto, FL, four grandchildren, Cody Conlee, Jena Hoenes and her husband Jose, Kara Rooney, and Jon Rooney and his wife Gabby, four great-grandchildren, Emili Silos, Joey Hoenes, Leah Rooney and Dillon Conlee, one sister, Beverly Harter and her husband Ray of Keokuk, one niece, Lori Seabold of Keokuk, one nephew, Jeff Harter and his wife Patti of Jacksonville, N.C., seven great- nieces and nephews, Lacey Seabold, Adam Seabold, Brooklyn Seabold Mikaela Harter, Breana Harter, Justin Harter and Alyssia Harter. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 25th, 2014at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend John Abraham officiating.
