Gary Lee "Griff" Griffin, 63, of Warsaw, IL, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA.
He was born on March 23, 1945 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Wilbur Lee and Anna Ruth Schmitt Giffin. On June 4, 1965, Gary was united in marriage to Marilyn Kay Long in Warsaw, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Veronica Smith and her husband Curt of Nebo, IL, two sons, Gary Marcus Griffin of Castle Rock, CO and Phillip Griffin and his wife Amanda of Warsaw, IL, six grandchildren, Tyler and Taylor Smith of Nebo, IL, Alexis and Corbin Agnew of Warsaw, IL, and Alicia and Connley Griffin of Warsaw, IL, three sisters, Wahnetta Buckert, Patty Runge and her husband Dan and Brenda Avery all of Warsaw, IL, and one brother, Elijah Griffin and his wife Naomi of Warsaw, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Stephanie, one granddaughter, Kylie Smith, three brothers, Tim, Nathanial and Elisha, and one sister, Priscilla.
Gary was a lifelong resident of Warsaw, IL and graduated from Warsaw High School in with the Class of 1963.
He had been employed at Roquette America, Inc. in Keokuk for forty-three years.
Gary was a member of the First Christ Church Disciples of Christ in Keokuk and the Local 48 American Federation of Grain Millers.
He enjoyed woodworking. Gary was a loving husband, father and grandfather and cherished the times he spent with his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday at the First Christian Church in Keokuk with Reverend Bill Mitchell officiating. Burial was in the Concordia Lutheran Cemetery in Warsaw, IL.
