Frank Leo "June" Weirather, Jr., 92 of Ft. Madison, IA died Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
He was born January 25, 1925 in Keokuk the son of Frank and Anne Watznauer Weirather. He was first united in marriage to Elda Mae Cafer in Ft. Madison, IA in 1954. She preceded him in death on December 9, 1989. He later married Ann Glasgow Peterie in Keokuk on December 28, 1996. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Mark (Bev) Weirather of Keokuk, one daughter, Beverly Weirather of Rock Island, IL, one granddaughter, one great- granddaughter, one step-daughter, Judy (Vic) Conlee of Montrose, IA, one step-son, Mike (Donna) Peterie of Ft. Madison, IA, eight step-grandchildren, thirteen step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one brother, Harold Weirather and one sister, Theresa Erickson.
Frank graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1943.
He had been employed by Stone Container in Keokuk for twenty-five years until his retirement in 1988. He also was a crop farmer for many years.
Frank was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk, the Moose Lodge in Burlington, IA and the Jackson Township Fire Association. He was also a member of the Swing Easy Square Dancing Club and the Knights of Columbus.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the All Saints Catholic Church with Father Robert Lathrop officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
