Frank Pennington, Sr.

Frank Pennington, Sr., 76 of Keokuk, IA died Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Great River Hospice House in Burlington, IA. He was born September 23, 1935 in Keokuk, IA the son of Harry and Edith Hamilton Pennington. In July 2007 he was united in marriage to Judith Angelo at Catfish Bend Casino in Burlington, IA. She survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Donna Wixom and her husband Dale of Keokuk, IA, Edith V. Pennington of Rock Island, IL, Christiana Pennington of Keokuk, IA and Heidi Swank of Burlington, IA, one son, Frank A. Pennington, Jr. of Keokuk, IA, sixteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, D.J. Pennington, his parents and thirteen brothers and sisters. Frank was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. In his younger years he had worked for the carnival and also at Site's gas stations in Iowa and Missouri. He had been employed for Sammons Construction for many years, Bryant & Martin Plumbing, worked as an auctioneer and at Pinkertons as a security guard. Frank enjoyed being outdoors fishing but most of all he loved to go to Catfish Bend Casino and try his luck. Graveside services with military rites were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. There was no visitation. A memorial has been established.
