Frank Aruthur Kunde, 89, of Keokuk, died Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at his home. He was born on August 3, 1925 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Frank E. and Marjorie Nielsen Kunde. He graduated from Clinton High School with the Class of 1943. Frank was a veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country during WW II. On October 16, 1949, Frank was united in marriage to Iris Ada Beil in Clinton. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Robert Kunde and his wife Terry of Ft. Madison, IA, Kim Kunde and his wife Ann of Valley Center, CA and Craig Kunde and his wife Teresa of Oregon City, OR, two daughters, Gina Nye and her husband Chad and Lori Kunde and companion Ernesto Trevino all of Keokuk, seven grandchildren, Jeremy Kunde and wife Jessica, Craig Kunde, Trevor Trevino, Chance Nye and wife Amy, Kristina Powell, Meagan Kunde and Cheyenne Kunde, five great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Nona Stamp and her husband Don of Wisconsin and Sylvia Knepper and her husband Richard of Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents. Frank had been employed at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Harlingen, TX and at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Keokuk for a combined total of 40 years. He retired in 1986. He was a member of the Keokuk Masonic Lodge, the American Legion Post#41, the Lee County Conservation Board and the Confederate Air Force, now known as Commemorative Air Force. Frank enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending the summer at his cabin on the river. He also enjoyed playing cards and golfing. In his younger years Frank obtained his private pilot license and enjoyed flying. He was a handyman and enjoyed construction and building things. A private graveside service with military rites will be held. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post#41.
