Obituary

Frank "Jim" Barber, 77, of Keokuk died Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA. Jim was born March 23, 1938 in Warsaw, IL the son of Franklin and Jean Barber. On September 20, 2003 he was united in marriage to Rhonda Young in Regina Saskatchewan, Canada. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Brad Barber and his wife Jennifer of Warsaw, IL, four daughters, Kendra Austin, Angela Jones and her husband Alan, Pat Lomax and Lynn Belknap and her husband Tom all of Warsaw, IL, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and two brothers, David Barber and his wife Alice and Richard Barber and his wife Karen all of Warsaw, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim graduated from Warsaw High School and then attended college in Kirksville, MO. He had been employed by Dial Corporation in Ft. Madison, IA, until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Worker's Local 617 Union. He was of the Methodist faith. Jim enjoyed mowing the lawn and tinkering on old mowers and tractors. Jim's wife always told him that he "Was born to mow". He loved to drive around on country roads, camping in his trailer and going boating. He was a sports enthusiast and especially loved the Chicago Bears. Jim was a devoted man and had a strong sense of family and loved his grandchildren. A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
