Floyd A. "Toady" Timberlake, Jr., 89, of Keokuk, IA, died Monday, September 24, 2007 at River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA. He was born on November 9, 1917 in Carthage, IL, the son of Floyd and Clara McKim Timberlake. He was married in 1940 to Jean Thompson and they were divorced in 1946. He later married Molly Case and she preceded him in death in 1981. He and Jean remarried in 1982 and she survives. Other survivors include one son, Steve Wipff and his wife Camille of Santa Fe, TX, two daughters Barbara Chelewski and her husband Tony of Utah and Tracy Timberlake of Palatine, IL, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two step-children, Fred Wipff and his wife Elsie of Austin, TX and Rita Hough and her husband Lew of Sugarland, TX, two step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Patricia Timberlake of Clarence, Iowa He was also preceded in death by one sister, Arlene Dadant. Floyd graduated from Carthage High School in 1935 and Carthage College in 1939. In his younger years he had been employed at WCAZ radio station in Carthage and owned the Maidrite Shop in Carthage for three years. He spent most of his working life in radio and TV as a broadcast engineer, having worked for RCA and ABC in California and New York. He retired in 1980. Floyd had always loved broadcasting and became a Ham radio operator at the age of 9 years old. Through his use of the Ham radio, he made friends from all over the USA and many of those friendships continue even today. He enjoyed working on the computer and had a great love for music. He studied voice in Chicago and sang in school and church choirs. He also enjoyed playing the piano. According to his wishes his body has been cremated. A private family graveside service was held at Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage.
