Floyd E. "Teddy" Buckner, Sr., 88, of Keokuk, IA, died Friday, September 28, 2007 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.
He was born on January 21, 1919 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Claude and Addie Webster Buckner. On August 17, 1946 Floyd was united in marriage to Maxine V. Hampton in Keokuk, IA. She preceded him in death on June 13, 1990
Floyd spent two years in the 3 C's Camp in the Panama Canal as a truck driver. He then enlisted in the United States Army and served his country for four years during WW II, receiving his honorable discharge in 1946. Floyd was proud to share his military stories and experiences with his children, grandchildren and friends.
Floyd was employed at Sears in Keokuk for twenty years and then was employed at the Hoerner YMCA where he retired after thirty years of service.
His favorite pastimes were fishing, camping and spending time with his family and friends.
After being blessed with 88 years fulfilling years Floyd leaves precious memories for his son Floyd E. Buckner Jr. and his wife Frances "Myrt" of Keokuk, IA, his three daughters, Jennifer Scott of Cedar Rapids, IA, Bonita Scott of Keokuk, and Phyllis Webb of Mascoutah, IL, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two brothers, George Buckner of Keokuk, IA, Milton Buckner of Chicago, IL, two sisters, Mabel Clay of Ft. Dodge, IA, Geranda Robinson of Cedar Rapids, IA and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Diane Hayes, four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Rev. Debra Letcher and Rev. Robert Williams officiating. Burial with military riteswas in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
