Fern F. Hoyer Singleton, 90, of Keokuk, IA died, Monday, March 21, 2005. She was born on January 9, 1915 in Donnellson, Iowa the daughter of Emil C. and Katherine Klingler Hoyer. She married Don L. Singleton on January 9, 1937 in Donnellson, IA. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1998. She graduated from Donnellson High School in Donnellson, IA with the Class of 1932. She graduated from the Graham Hospital Nurses Training in Keokuk, IA and received her R.N. pin. Fern was a registered nurse for over 40 years serving in private duty until her retirement in 1970. She was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk, IA. She served as a volunteer nurse for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile for several years. Fern liked to cook, sew, garden and travel throughout the United States. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Fern is survived by one son, Larry Singleton, one daughter, Patty Hoehle and her husband, Jerry, two grandchildren, Chris Hoehle, Allison Pippin & her husband Brian, one great grandchild and one nephew, Art Hoyer. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Hoyer in 1968. Private family services were held Wednesday with burial at Hickory Grove Cemetery. A memorial was established for the St Paul United Church of Christ.
