Evelyn May (Swinderman) Runge, 86, of New Braunfels, TX, formerly of Wayland, MO, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Regent Care Center in San Marcos, Texas. Evelyn was born in Donnellson, Iowa on December 21, 1927 to Frank L. and Vera V. Swinderman. Evelyn attended Donnellson High School in Donnellson, Iowa. She worked in a local factory until she met the love of her life, Earl Runge, a Navy veteran and career farmer. They were married January 5, 1949 in Keokuk, Iowa. They raised 15 children on a farm in Wayland, Missouri. She spent her time being a loving mother, gardening, canning and preparing meals for the large family. Evelyn enjoyed singing and playing piano for relaxation. Her children have many pleasant memories of her home made yeast rolls, lemon cheesecake and her little songs or prayers she wrote. Mother, your influence will live on forever with us. She is survived by her 15 children; Shirley Wendel and her husband Richard, James Runge, Mary Kathleen Parker, David Runge, Louis Runge, Sandra Bjerke and her husband BJ, Judy Farris, Laura Ferguson and her husband Scott, Holly Scalise and husband Michael, Nancy Arnold, Andrew Runge, Michael Runge and his wife Lillian, Charles Runge, Wilbur Runge and his wife Tina, Margaret Burkhart and her husband Brad, 26 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and her sister, Lois Fruehling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Runge on March 18, 1998, three brothers Francis, Harold and Donald Swinderman and one sister Colleen Leckbee. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
