Eugenie Helen "Jeanie" Hanson, 74, of Keokuk, IA, died Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Keokuk Area Hospital.
She was born on March 13, 1941 in Cavalier, ND the daughter of Raymond and Deliema Hebert Arnold. On April 18, 1969 Jeanie was united in marriage to John R. Hanson, Sr. in Hastings, MN. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1992.
Jeanie had been employed as a cook at the Chuck Wagon Café in Keokuk during the 1970's and 1980's. Her homemade pies are still remembered by many customers.
She was a member of the South Side Boat Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary.
She enjoyed reading, working puzzles and listening to country music. She loved watching the old western movies starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. Her favorite movie of all time was "The Quiet Man". Jeanie was a wonderful cook and everyone loved to come to her house to eat. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her long time loving companion, Jack Scott of Keokuk, five daughters, Dawna Gundy and husband Mark of Keokuk, Yolanda Wilson of Keokuk, Lori Bailey and husband Ronald of Gunbarrel, TX, Renee Hernandez and husband Poncho of Arlington, TX, and Roberta Sifeuntes and husband Robert of Gunbarrel, TX, four sons, Scott Hanson and partner Mary of Keokuk, Robert "Bob" Hanson & wife Heather of Ft. Meyers, FL, Romain Hernandez and wife LaLa and Frank Hernandez, Jr. all of Gunbarrel, TX, one brother, Renee Arnold of Cavalier, ND, seventeen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Joe Arnold, Robert Arnold and Romain Arnold
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with family meeting with friends at that time.
