Obituary

Ethel L. Lillard, 90, of Kahoka, died Friday, June 13 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka. She was born July 3, 1923 in Kahoka, Missouri the daughter of Walter Daniel and Bertha Mae Hamner Heinze. On May 23, 1942 she was united in marriage to W. Leroy Lillard in Canton, MO. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2008. She grew up on the family farm south of Kahoka and graduated from Kahoka High School in 1941. After graduation she worked at Bakers Medical Company in Keokuk putting labels onto medicine bottles. Later she worked at Drydens. After she was married she drove a school bus for seven years. She then went to work at Shellor Globe for 25 years. After her retirement she stayed home and took care of her husband, who was ill. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kahoka. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by three daughters; Linda Sears and her husband Larry of Kahoka, Barbara Bergman and her husband John of Kahoka, Elizabeth Montgomery of Arbela, MO, her grandchildren: Sherri Biddenstadt and her husband Mike of Keokuk, Vickie Shaffer and her husband Kevin of Kahoka, Dave Sears and his wife Ashley of Forest City, NC, Shawn Bergman, Tyler Bergman and his wife Leigh Ann of Hannibal, MO, Christopher Montgomery and his wife Paula of Memphis, MO, Kent Montgomery and his wife Kiley of Lake Ozarks, MO, her great-grandchildren: Anthony Biddenstadt of Amarillo, TX, Tarey Shoup of Ames, IA, Lyndsey and Kaitlyn Sears of Forest City, NC, Logan and Lucas Bergman of Hannibal, MO, William and Hannah Montgomery of Memphis, MO, MacKenzie and Marshall Montgomery of Lake Ozarks, MO, her step great grandchildren: Michelle Shaffer of Kahoka, Chris Shaffer of Kahoka, Tiffany Shaffer of Hannibal, MO, Morgan, Sarah and Jessica Sites all of Memphis, MO, a great great-grandchild: Zaidyn Biddenstadt of Amarillo, TX; step great great grandchildren: Alex Worrell, Heaton Sturm, Lillian Shaffer, Andrew Shaffer, and Brighley Shaffer, all of Kahoka, her sister in law, Fern Boehmer of St. Louis, MO, and her brother in law, Joseph Garrels of Kahoka, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Howard Heinze and his wife Elizabeth; her sister; Mary Garrels, sister in law, Lorene Waggener and her husband Leo Waggener and a son in law, Bill Montgomery. Memorial service were held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka with Reverend Robert Moseley officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
