Obituary

Esther Honeycutt, 93, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose, IA. She was born on March 23, 1914 in New Boston, IA the daughter of George Earl and Greta P. Harrison Kite. On March 24, 1931, Esther was united in marriage to Leonard F. Honeycutt in Teresita, MO. He preceded her in death on January 10, 1992. Esther was a devoted mother and homemaker who loved caring for her family. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and working crossword puzzles. She is survived by four daughters, Geneva Teatsworth of Keokuk, Hazel Akers of Evansville, IN, Rosetta Rose and her husband Albert and Violet Rose and her husband David all of Hesperia, CA, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and twenty great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Ila Mae Vermazen and her husband Robert of Montrose, IA and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one son, Leonard Honeycutt, one grandson, William Akers, Jr., two sisters, Netti Alberts and Rita St. Clair, and six brothers, Julian Kite, John Kite, William Kite, Otis Kite, Charles Kite and Lloyd Kite. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Geoff Mitchell officiating. Burial was in the Sandusky cemetery in Sandusky, IA. A Memorial was established for the American Cancer Society.
