Elwin "Ed" John Walte, 76 of Keokuk died Monday, September 12, 2016 at the Keosauqua Health Center in Keosauqua, IA.
He was born April 1, 1940 in Oakland, CA the son of Joseph Benjamin and Dorothy Preston Walte. On October 9, 1975 he was united in marriage to Edith Maxine Randall in Quincy, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Tonya Mulkey (John) of North Ridgeville, OH, Margaret Walte of Lomax, IL and Tammy Webb (Karl) of Des Moines, IA, two sons, Dearld Walte and Kenneth Walte both of Des Moines, IA, grandchildren including Blake and Corynn Mulkey and Austin Korschgen, two sisters, Violet Miles of Hoffman Estates, IL and Tracy Walte of Keokuk, two brothers, Milton Walte (Marilyn) of Keokuk and William Walte (Carole) of CA and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents.
Ed graduated from Keokuk High School.
He had been employed at several construction companies through the years, including Hickey Construction and Sammons Construction both in Keokuk and Carl A. Nelson Construction in Burlington, IA.
Ed was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk.
He was a NASCAR fan, an avid San Francisco 49ers football fan and a Detroit Red Wings Hockey fan. Ed loved to attend family outings and spend time with his grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk with Father Robert Lathrop officiating.
