Elmer L. Parsons, 93, of Donnellson, IA, died Thursday, April 7, 2005 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant, IA. He was born on December 9, 1911, in Donnellson, Iowa the son of John E. and Gertrude Seth Parsons. He first married Mazie Ott in 1941 and she preceded him in death in 1980. He then married Martha Perrenoud on June 3, 1981 in Donnellson, IA. Elmer was a lifelong resident of the Donnellson area and was a self-employed painter and drywall hanger for 65 years until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed going fishing and making woodworking projects. Many friends and family members enjoy the napkin and paper-towel holders he crafted. Elmer enjoyed helping others and was always ready to lend a hand to his neighbors and family. Elmer had been member of the Embury United Methodist Church since 1924. Elmer is survived by his wife, Martha of Donnellson, IA, two step sons, Terry Perrenoud and his wife Linda of Donnellson, IA, and Mike Perrenoud and his wife Betty of Houghton, IA, one step-daughter, Diana Gerveler and her husband Henry of Argyle, IA, eight step-grandchildren and sixteen step-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Francis Parsons. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 11 at the Embury Methodist Church in Donnellson, IA with Rev. Barb Krueger and Dr. Jim Eads officiating. Burial will be in the Embury Cemetery in Donnellson, IA. A memorial was established for the Embury Cemetery.
