Elmer Eugene Mahoney was born on January 2, 1952 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Elmer Eugene and Vivian Washburn Mahoney, Sr. Elmer was united in marriage to Wanda Hendricks on June 1, 1985 in Rand Park, Keokuk, IA. Elmer graduated from Keokuk Senior High School with the Class of 1971. He was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk, IA. He had been employed at Schlegal in Keokuk for sixteen years. He also had been the caregiver for his mother-in-law, Katherine Hendricks, from 1992 – 2001. Elmer enjoyed going camping and fishing. He loved animals and always had many pets to care for. Elmer Eugene Mahoney died Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at his home in Keokuk at the age of 53. He is survived by his wife Wanda, of Keokuk, IA, his parents, Elmer & Vivian Mahoney of Keokuk, IA, one sister, Sherry Buschling of Keokuk, IA, one brother, John Mahoney and his wife Lora of Keokuk, IA, one sister-in-law, Sandy Dresser and her husband Raymond of Keokuk, IA, one brother-in-law, Gary Hendricks and his wife Tina of Hamilton, IL, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Katherine Hendricks and his grandparents. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m., Friday, February 11 at the All Saints Catholic Church with Father Paul Connolly officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, IA. A Memorial was established for the American Cancer Society.
