View Video Tribute Ellen "Ellie" McGee, 48, of Keokuk, IA, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at her home. She was born on May 7, 1962 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Jessie Robert and Mildred Thompson McGee. She graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1980. She had been employed at Keokuk Area Hospital in the Dietary Department and also worked at the Holiday Inn Express in Keokuk. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and going to the river to watch the ducks. She also enjoyed going to the casino and playing the slot machines. She especially enjoyed taking her mother on car rides and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Wayne Sirtak and Joshua John Sirtak both of Keokuk, her mother, Mildred Burgess of Keokuk, seven brothers, Robert McGee and his wife Wanda of Wyoming, Jessie McGee and Kevin McGee both of Lockridge, IA, Danny Burgess and his wife Linda, Rick Burgess and his wife Sue, Howard "Spike" Burgess and his wife Kathy and John Burgess and his wife Bobbette all of Keokuk, four sisters, Thelma McGee of Keokuk, Kim Korschgen and her husband Phil of Keokuk, Jeanne Denning and her husband Wesley of Kahoka, MO and Sally Bennett of Keokuk, two special nieces that Ellen helped raise, Ellen "Little Ellie" McGee and Elizabeth McGee both of Keokuk, many other nieces and nephews and cousins and her long-time companion, David "Sack" Stinson of Keokuk. She was preceded in death by her father, one brother, Michael McGee and her grandparents. A Gathering of Remembrance for family and friends was held on Thursday, January, 27, 2011. A private family burial was on Friday in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. A memorial was established for Lee County Hospice.
