Elizabeth C. Libby Reeder, 99, of Ft. Madison, IA, formerly of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at The Madison in Ft. Madison.
She was born on May 11, 1914 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Edward and Clara Biddenstadt Klepfer. Libby grew up in the house she was born in and graduated from St. Marys High School in Keokuk with the Class of 1932.
On October 18, 1934, Libby was united in marriage to Leonard Reeder in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1982. She was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk and the church Service Circle. She was also a member of Kings Daughters and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. Libby had been a member and volunteer with the Keokuk Area Hospital Auxiliary. She was very active in raising funds for KAH and had sewn many rag dolls to sell at different fundraisers. Libby enjoyed sewing, bowling, golf and traveling. She loved playing cards and belonged to several bridge and canasta clubs. She enjoyed gardening and canning the fruits of her labor and was a wonderful cook. Over the years many pets made a home in her heart, especially her dog Boomer. There was nothing more treasured in Libbys life than her family. A devoted wife and mother, Libby loved her family deeply and greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by one daughter, Karen Bangert and her husband Richard of Burlington, IA and their children, Kurt Bangert, Kathleen Hodson and Kevin Bangert, one son, Paul Reeder and his wife Sarah of Cincinnati, OH and his children, Michael Reeder, Winde Sutter, Patrick Reeder and Jack Reeder and Libbys ten great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and twin sisters, Ester and Margaret.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 7th, 2014 the St Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk, IA with Rev. Matt Hunt officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery, Keokuk, IA.
