Elizabeth Bird, 69, of Keokuk Iowa died Monday, October 29, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, IA. She was born May 31, 1938, in Niota, Illinois, the daughter of Neil and Helen Elizabeth Guymon Hutson. On January 21, 1955, she was united in marriage to Charles L. Bird in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2007. She graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1954. She worked at Methode in Carthage, Illinois for fifteen years as a line operator. She also worked at many different restaurants in Keokuk. Elizabeth was an avid Cub fan and collected many memorabilia. She was a loving wife and mother but the most important person in her life was her granddaughter Maggie and enjoyed spending time with her. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Fojtik and her granddaughter Maggie Vaughan both of Keokuk, Iowa, a sister Lorena Brown and her husband David of Keokuk, Iowa, two brothers Vern Hutson and his wife Luann of Carthage, IL and Claude Hutson and his wife Loretta of Hutchinson, KS, sisters-in-law Maxine Allen and Ruth Hall and a special brother-in-law Norman Allen and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son Glenn Bird in 1993 and a grandson Corey Bird in infancy. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 2 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, Iowa.
