Edna May Wallace, 86, of Montrose, formerly of Fort Madison, died Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the Montrose Health Care Center in Montrose, IA. She was born on June 13, 1928 in Henry County, IA, the daughter of Joe William and Finetta Gowens Christ. Edna was united in marriage to William A. Wallace in Ft. Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1990. She had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk, Scheaffer Pen in Fort Madison, and the Army Ammunition Plant in Middleton, Iowa. Over the years, Edna owned and operated restaurants and was a bartender at the Glass Rail bar in Ft. Madison, IA. She loved playing bingo and card games, especially solitaire. She was an avid fisherman and often put two hooks on her line to catch two fish at a time. She enjoyed having a good time and loved to sing karaoke and dance. There was nothing more treasured in her life than her family. She was a caring, loving wife, mother and grandmother and she leaves her family a lifetime of wonderful memories. She is survived by one son, Richard Wayne Wallace and his wife Kay of Montrose, Iowa, one daughter Brenda Chappell and her husband Roger of Jerseyville, IL, nine grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Pat Wallace-Hernandez, an infant son Jessie Wallace, two brothers, Eddie and Elmer Christ, and a sister Louella McCollum. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Chaplain Bill Willis officiating. Burial was in the Montrose Cemetery in Montrose, Iowa.
