Edith Schmollinger, 78, of Keokuk, IA died Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. She was born on April 17, 1930 in Montrose, IA the daughter of Alex E. and Elizabeth F. Weber Riddle. She first married Herbert M. Cale and than later married Carroll Schmollinger, who preceded her in death. She loved playing cards and bingo. Edith enjoyed the company of the people in the Community Room at the Mississippi Terrace as well as the VFW. She is survived by three daughters, Judith Rankin and her husband Larry of Keokuk, IA, Vicki Adams and her husband Bruce of Alabama, and Tina Kelly and her husband Bobby of Tennessee, three sons, Morris Cale and his wife Marcey of Oklahoma, Steven Cale and his wife Connie of Keokuk, IA, and Stanley Cale of Keokuk, IA, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, one brother, Victor Riddle and his wife Donna of Montrose, IA, and one sister, Bernice Smith of Illinois. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Johnson and Joyce Varner, two brothers, Floyd Riddle, and Roland Riddle. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 16 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Bill Mitchell officiating. Memorials may be made to the VFW Post 3508 in Keokuk, IA.
