Obituary

Dwight "Bill" W. Wright, 81, of Keokuk died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA. Bill was born on October 28, 1932 in LaHarpe, IL the son of Junis and Constance "Connie" Pocock Wright. On January 16, 1955, Bill was united in marriage to Jewell Bown in Keokuk, IA and they enjoyed almost 59 years together. She survives. Bill is also survived by two daughters, Karen Wetzel and her husband Roger of Sutter, IL and Mary Kay Braeden of Warsaw, IL, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Paul St.Clair. He graduated from the LaHarpe High School in LaHarpe, IL with the Class of 1950. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served his country proudly during the Korean War. He was employed by the Truman Wahrer Trucking Company in Charleston, IA and then by Pryor Trucking Company in Keokuk for 35 years before his retirement. Bill was a faithful member of the First Christian Church of Keokuk, IA and had served as a Deacon and attended the Fidelis Sunday School Class. He enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting in his younger years. He also enjoyed going camping with his family. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Keokuk with Reverend Jerald Bown officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Keokuk, IA.
