Dorothy Darlene Varner, 85, of Keokuk died Saturday, December 24, 2016 at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
She was born on November 8, 1931 in Hamilton, IL, the daughter of George and Dorothy Frazer Lander. On January 18, 1953, Dorothy was united in marriage to Marcus LaVerne Varner in Hamilton, IL. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2012.
Dorothy graduated from the Hamilton High School with the Class of 1949. She attended Gem City College in Quincy, IL.
She was of the Christian Faith.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who greatly enjoyed caring for her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy and she treasured the time she was able to spend with them.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Varner Fox and husband Jack of Braselton, GA, two sons, Steve Varner and wife Vicki of Davenport, IA and Dave Varner and wife Patti of Springfield, IL, seven grandchildren, Ben Varner (Kelly) of Davenport, IA, Nick Fox (Lauren) of Charleston, SC, Keith Varner (Anne) of Ankeny, IA, Kelsey Fox of Atlanta, GA, Michael Fox of Annapolis, MD, Travis Varner of San Francisco, CA and Chloe Varner Harris (Chris) of Omaha, NE, six great-grandchildren, Zuriah, Anah, Elias and Jonas Varner, Marcus Harris and Jack Varner, two sisters, Jincy Jones (C.J.) of Texas and Leslie Grossman (Jim) of Maryland, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Theo Lander and a cousin, Wilbur Frazer.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday December 27, 2016 at the Keokuk National Cemetery.
