Dorothy M. Saunders, 85, of Keokuk, IA, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Lexington Square in Keokuk, IA. She was born on January 2, 1925 in Conneaut, OH, the daughter of Michael and Josephine Vendetti Caruso. On November 5, 1950, Dorothy was united in marriage to Gene Saunders in Marceline, MO. He preceded her in death on January 26, 1997. She had been employed at the Lee County Health Department as a Home Health Aid for over 20 years, retiring in 1997. She was of the Catholic faith. Dorothy enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Her family was her life's joy. She is survived by three daughters, Carol Moylan of Keokuk, IA, Jeanne Brooks and her fiancé Harry Haynes of Kahoka, MO and Cynthia Saunders and her friend Randy of Keokuk, IA, three sons, Thomas Moylan of Littleton, CO, John Moylan and his companion Ann Leeper of Keokuk, IA and Tony Saunders and his wife Kim of Wayland, MO, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and one brother, Michael Caruso and his wife Philomena of Syracuse, NY. She was also preceded in death by one son, David Saunders, one brother and three sisters. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 23 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
