Dorothy Kirchner 92, of Kahoka passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024 at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, Missouri.
She was born on July 26, 1931 the daughter of George and Lavon Logsdon Wiegand in St. Patrick, MO. She graduated from St. Patrick High School with the class of 1950.
On September 19, 1953 she was united in marriage to Arnold Carl Kirchner in St. Patrick, MO. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2001.
She is survived by three daughters, Shelia Welker of Williamstown, Sheri Kirchner (Bryan) of Baring, MO and Susan Kirchner of Kahoka, two sons, Steve Kirchner (Debbi) of Wyaconda, and Jake Kirchner (Pam) of Williamstown, seven grandchildren Brad Kirchner (Candy), Jared Kirchner, Nathan Kirchner (Kim), Angela Wallace, Kellie Fisher (Hank) Scott Welker (Cathy) and Lance Smith (Teri), thirteen great grandchildren, Cadence Kirchner (Erica), Brock Kirchner (Bailie) Carley Brammer (Garrett), Lauren Kirchner, Addison Kirchner, Alivia Kirchner, Suny Wallace, Macie Fisher, Ella Fisher, Dane Fisher, Brendon Welker, Connor Welker and Chesney Smith, and three great-great grandchildren Briggs Kirchner, Beck Kirchner and Rowan Kirchner. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Geneva Wiegand, Gerry Wiegand and Rita Kirchner along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
Besides her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents, son in law, Jack Welker, a grandson-in-law, Ryan Wallace, brothers, Bill Wiegand (Alice), Sam Wiegand, Jack Wiegand (Nina), Paul Wiegand, George Joe Wiegand (Bernie), Clem Wiegand (Peg), and a brother in infancy, two sisters, Mary Lucille and Marie Kirchner (John Nick) brothers-in-law, Charles Kirchner (Eileen), Robert Kirchner and sister in law, Rovene Uhlmeyer (Kenneth).
She was a devoted faithful member of both the Shrine of St. Patrick and St. Michaels Catholic Church in Kahoka. She also enjoyed teaching religion class.
Dorothy worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Quincy, Shaffer Pen, the Clark County Nursing Home and Dadants. In 1984 her and Arnold became owners of Clark County Package and operated the business until their retirement in 1995.
Dorothy's heart was in her home where she loved raising her children, babysitting her grandchildren and neighbor kids and making her house a home. She enjoyed laughing and dancing. Most of all she loved her family and friends especially family gatherings on Sunday.
A Mass of Christian burial was held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Shrine of St. Patrick.
Visitation was held Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka with the family meeting with friends from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. A rosary/wake service was held at 4 p.m. prior to the visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Clark County Local Cancer Fund or to the Kahoka Cemetery.
