Dorothy Darlene Hyatt, 99 of Keokuk, IA died Saturday, July 20, 2019 at River Hills Village in Keokuk.
She was born March 10, 1920 in Creston, IA the daughter of Charles Evervett and Edith Daisy Rose Clem. On April 13, 1941 she was united in marriage to William Hyatt at First Christian Church in Keokuk. He preceded her in death in 1973.
Dorothy graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1938.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Eastern Star and Kings Daughters.
In her younger years, Dorothy had been employed as a dental assistant and later worked in the kitchen at the Keokuk High School. Most recently, she had been employed as an insurance agent for Lofton Insurance Agency in Keokuk, for twenty-four years until her retirement in 1986.
Dorothy loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She was a gardener with a green thumb and grew beautiful flowers. Dorothy's main focus in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, William Hyatt of Plant City, FL and one daughter, Betty Seaver of Keokuk, six grandchildren, Lesa Boyd Brooks, Joni (Greg) Sohl, Kris (Tim) Centers, Rob (Julie) Boyd, Chad (Gina) Hyatt and James (Becky) Seaver, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Rose Mary Hyatt Boyd, one brother, one sister, one son-in-law, Jim Seaver and one great-nephew.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on July 26 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor David Turner officiating. Burial was in the Sandusky Cemetery in Sandusky, IA.
Visitation for family and friends was held prior to the service on July 26 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
