Obituary

Born on November 13, 1923 in Keokuk, IA, Dorotha was the daughter of Emory and Isabelle Ridgely Powers. On September 20, 1942 Dorotha was united in marriage to Chester Milligan in Kahoka, MO. Dorotha worked at the convalescent center in Keokuk as a cook. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Keokuk and was very active in her faith. She loved music, playing the piano, organ, and clarinet. She gave piano lessons to many children. She also had a "green thumb" and loved gardening. Dortha's family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with them. The love and wonderful memories she has created with her family will never be forgotten. Dorotha Louise Milligan died Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at Lexington Square in Keokuk, IA at the age of 81. She is survived by her husband, Chester of Keokuk, IA, four sons, Gerald Milligan and his wife Mabel of Chicago, IL, Ralph Milligan and his wife Jackie of Columbia, MO, Ronald Milligan and his wife Jane of Hamilton, IL, and Gregory Milligan and his wife Dorothy of Keokuk, IA, one daughter, Beverly Jones and her husband Thomas of Keokuk, IA, nineteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one sister Gilda Mae Herring of Columbia, MO and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Emory James Milligan in 1981, one grandchild, one brother, William Powers, and one sister, Clara Milligan. A memorial service was held at 4 p.m., Saturday, September 17, at the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Keokuk, IA.
