Doris D. Thompson, 87 of Keokuk died Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk. She was born December 23, 1928 in Pekin, IL the daughter of James Curtis and Anna Breese Stevens. On January 15, 1950 she was united in marriage to Richard L. Thompson in Warsaw, IL. He survives. Other survivors include one son, Richard and his wife Janice Thompson of Muscatine, IA, one grandson, Joseph Thompson and his wife Kristy of Indianapolis, IN, one granddaughter, Sara Bugler of Huntersville, NC, six great-grandchildren, Aiden Bugler, Emma Bugler, Jack Bugler and Cameron Bugler all of Huntersville, NC and Drew and Owen Thompson of Indianapolis, IN and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Randall, one sister, Clara Galliher and her husband Robert, one brother, Clarence (Shorty) Stevens and his wife Dorothy, three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. Doris graduated with the Class of 1947 from the Warsaw High School in Warsaw, IL. She co-owned and operated Country Treasures Antiques in Summitville, IA with her husband for approximately twenty years. Doris was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk. Doris loved antiques. She took great pleasure in attending antique shows with her husband. Doris adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Reverend Jeff Bixby officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk.
