Doris S.W. Burk, 40, of Keokuk, IA died Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
She was born on July 27, 1969 in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO the daughter of Delta Mae Davis. Her father died when she was young and she was then raised by her mother and stepfathers. On July 28, 1990, Doris was united in marriage to David Burk in Keokuk, IA. He survives.
Other survivors include one son, Sean Burk of Keokuk, IA, three step-daughters, Angela Portugue of the Quad Cities, IA, Jessica Eyerman of the Quad Cities, IA and Trista Wallace of the Quad Cities, IA, two step-sons, Matthew Wulf of the Quad Cities, IA and Andrew Burk of the Quad Cities, IA, twelve precious grandchildren, Taylor, Haley, Logan, Gracie, Kylie, Kaylee, Rebecca, William, Alex, Emily, Morgan, and Tyler, one brother, Arthur Huston of Warsaw,IL, her step-fathers, Terry Vradenburg of Keokuk, IA and Dewey Huston of Warsaw,IL, one step –grandfather, Kenneth Hayden, of Keokuk, IA, three aunts Darla Fader and her husband Rick of Lisbon, IA, Earlene Weiss and her husband Brian of Burlington, IA, Aletha Vradenburg and her husband Roger of Keokuk, IA, one uncle, Monte Hayden and his wife Cheryl of Iowa, two nieces, Jazlynn and Jada Huston and two close friends who blossomed into sisters, Jeannine Finn and Marline Gabbert,
She was preceded in death by her mother and father and one uncle, Jim Means.
Doris graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1987.
She had been employed as the program director for Rehab Care, working in the Ft. Madison Health Center and the Montrose Health Center.
Doris enjoyed collecting teddy bears. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, and motorcycling. She was a very compassionate person and was always taking care of people. Doris loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, IA.
Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with the family meeting with friends from 6 - 8 p.m.
