Obituary

Doris L. Anderson, 91, of Keokuk, IA died Monday, December 20, 2010. She was born March 23, 1919 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of John C. and Birde Lee Meister. On October 29, 1940 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Charles Parke Anderson in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death. She lived in Keokuk all of her life. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. Doris was a fulltime mother and wife and was most notably known for her fine sense of humor and generous anonymous charitable donations to the Keokuk community over the years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, spending time with family and friends and later in life watching the Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes, Nascar, horse races and Wheel of Fortune. She is survived by one daughter, Margie Eaton and her husband Danny of Keokuk, IA, one son-in-law, Alan F. Goetz of Indian Rocks Beach, FL, three grandchildren, Susan Dobrick and her husband Bill Cypress, CA, Angela M. (Ange) Corson and her husband Mike of Warrensburg, MO, William A. (Ande) Goetz of Tampa, FL, one great grandson, Cameron Lee Adams of Cypress, CA, two step grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, four nephews, John (Jack) Brown and his wife Ruth of St. Petersburg, FL, Bart (Bud) Brown and his wife Cherie of Chattanooga, TN, Edward (Ed) Brown and his wife Kathy of Oklahoma City OK, and Danny (Dan) Brown and his wife Susie of Hixson, TN and their children, special friends Pat & Jim Bowden of Keokuk, IA, as well as very loving caregivers. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Penelope (Penny) Lee Anderson and Marilyn Sue Goetz, one sister, Marjorie Brown-Inman and one grandson, Dustin Lee Adams. A graveside service will be held at Keokuk National Cemetery at a later date for family and friends. Burial was held on December 23, 2010. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Keokuk Humane Society and Keokuk Area Community Foundation. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Vigen Memorial Home for upholding her prior written wishes of arrangements in an excellent manner during this holiday season.
