Donna L. Zimmerman

Born on September 27, 1939 in St. Louis, MO, Donna was the daughter of Lee and Wilma Youngblood Fanning. On August 17, 1978, Donna was united in marriage to Donald Zimmerman. Donna had been a resident of Keokuk for the past 12 years. She had been employed at County Market for 5 years and retired in 2001. She liked to read, crochet, pitch horseshoes and bowl. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed babysitting for the grandchildren. Donna L. Zimmerman died Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA at the age of 65. Donna is survived by one daughter, Denise Appel and her husband David of Keokuk, IA, one son, Donald Lee Chappell and his wife Sharon of Dupo, IL, three grandchildren, Natasha Wilson & her husband Eric, Denael Lally and Michael Appel, three great-grandchildren, Avery and Sophie Wilson and Bryce Lally. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald on June 3, 1994, her parents and one great-grandson, Austen Appel. Funeral services were held at 12 noon on Saturday, July 2 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Craig Burton officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service with the family meeting with friends at that time. A memorial has been established for the family.
