Donna M. Elschlager, 85, of Keokuk, IA died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Keokuk Area Hospital. She was born on October 22, 1930 in Keokuk, the daughter of Carl and Mabel Elston Weirather. On October 30, 1949, Donna was united in marriage to Calvin Elschlager in Kahoka, MO. He survives. She is also survived by one son, David (Tina) Elschlager of Hamilton, IL, one daughter, Linda (Paul) Welborn of Keokuk, six grandchildren, Leah (David) Zanolla of Carthage, IL, Seth (Megan) Elschlager of St. Louis, MO and Becca Elschlager of Winter Haven, FL, Emily (Jesse) Hill of Burlington, IA, Abby Welborn of Las Vegas, NV and Maria Welborn of Cedar Rapids, IA, seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jonah and Lydia Zanolla, Addie Elschlager and soon to be born baby Elschlager, Kylee and Marlee Hill, four brothers, Carl Jr. (Janet) Weirather and Larry (Deanna) Weirather all of Montrose, Bob (Judy) Weirather and Garry (Sara) Weirather all of Quincy, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Betty Philp. Donna had been employed at Linquist Furniture in Keokuk and also worked as a Teachers Aid for the Keokuk School System and retired from there in 1993. She had been a faithful and active member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Keokuk since 1957. She served as a third, fourth and fifth grade Sunday School teacher for twenty-three years and was involved with the church funeral dinner ministry for fourteen years. She was a wonderful cook and loved to share her favorite dishes with family and friends. Donna was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her family deeply and greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Keokuk with Pastor David Turner officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Keokuk.
