Donald L. VerDught, Sr. 94 of Kahoka, MO passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at his home in Kahoka.
He was born July 18, 1931 in Monroe, IA the son of Marion P. and Pearl Birkenholtz VerDught. He graduated from Newton High School.
Donald proudly served his country in the United States National Guard Reserves for eight years.
On May 23, 1953 Donald was united in marriage to Patricia Kuba in Cedar Rapids, IA. She preceded him in death on September 2, 2019.
Donald had been employed by Armor Dial from 1972-1995. Prior to that, he worked at Maytag in Newton, IA from 1949-1972 as a supervisor.
He was a member of the Isaac Walton League of Newton, IA, Maytag Management Club and was an active member of Newton Little League where he coached many teams throughout the years.
Donald was a true outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was also a skilled and talented woodworker. With the help of his boys and Lloyd Karaff, Donald built his log home in 1992. He enjoyed putzing around his house and spending his mornings at Fat Boys with his buddies.
He is survived by two daughters, Darcia Lynn VerDught of Keokuk, IA and Diana Renee VerDught (Larry Shuman) of Kahoka, MO, three grandchildren, Amanda Jo Yoder, Jacoblee Ver Dught and Caleb VerDught and three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Alisha and Corbin Griffin. He is also survived by one sister, Mariam Gail Poston and one brother-in-law, Wayne Livengood of Newton, IA.
In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Donald VerDught, Jr. and Ronald VerDught, five sisters, Lillie Livengood, Karyn Metz, Rosalee Edwards, Margaret Roseborough and Mary Ann McKinney, his brother, Marvin VerDught, and one great-grandson, Conlee Duke Griffen.
According to his wishes there will be no services.
The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is assisting the family with arrangements.
