Donald Beryl "Don" Shinn, 63 of Keokuk died Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at his home.
He was born July 20, 1954 in Keokuk, the son of Lloyd and Lois Wilson Shinn. He was united in marriage to Barb Lammering, they later divorced.
Don graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1973.
In his younger years, Don had been employed by Sheller Globe in Keokuk for three years. More recently, he had been employed by Roquette America in Keokuk for thirty-seven years until his retirement.
Don was a member of BCTGM Local 48G.
Don was a huge sports enthusiast. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Don took great pride in his Jeeps and always kept them immaculate. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by three daughters, Sarah Pendergast of Cedar Rapids, IA, Denise (Brandon) North of Ankeny, IA and Jennifer (Michael) McCawley of Ankeny, IA, one son, Don (Beth) Shinn of Keokuk, six grandchildren, Matt, Jack and Mia Pendergast all of Cedar Rapids, IA and Katlyn, Abby and Olivia North all of Ankeny, IA, six sisters, Tammy (Steve) Wilson of Ft. Wayne, IN, Connie (Moe) Davis, Barb (Ron) Kutzner, Judy Schmitt,, Peggy (Earl) Duke and Debbie (John) Pezley all of Keokuk, and two brothers, Paul (Alice) Shinn and Lloyd "Monk" Shinn all of Keokuk along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, one brother in infancy, Timothy and one brother-in-law, Tony Schmitt.
A gathering of remembrance celebrating the life of Don was held Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Keokuk Labor Temple from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. In memory of Don everyone wore their Hawkeye apparel.
The Vigen Memorial in Keokuk is assisting the family with arrangements.
