Obituary

Donald W. Adams, 68, of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, August 14, 2014 at his home. He was born on December 24, 1945 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Wayne G. and Carlene Richardson Adams. On September 6, 1996 Don was united in marriage to Deborah Ramsey in Keokuk. She preceded him in death earlier this year on March 8, 2014. Donald graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1964. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Through the years, Don had been employed at Pepsi Cola, Colonial Bread, Ferguson, Automatic Vending and Johnson-Schmidt. He is survived by two daughters, Audrey Woods and Heather Adams both of Keokuk, one son, Trevor Adams and his wife Jana of Quincy, IL, one step-daughter, Jamie Hamelton and her husband Terry of Keokuk, two step-sons, Jeffrey Coppler and Jody Coppler and his wife Michelle all of Keokuk, eleven grandchildren, two brothers, Jon Adams and his wife Debbie of Cedar Rapids, IA and David Adams and his wife Sandy of Lexington, KY, two sisters-in-law, Linda Burdette and her husband Mike of Keokuk and Jana Ziegler and her husband Ronnie of Staunton, IL, one brother-in-law, Chris Ramsey and his wife Julie of Keokuk and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and one aunt, Lorraine Hayden. A Gathering of Remembrance, celebrating the lives of both Donald and Deborah, was held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk. A private family graveside service for Donald and Deborah was held at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk with military rites honoring Donald's service in the U.S. Navy.
