Obituary

Dolores Speake, 91, of Montrose, IA died Monday, July 12, 2010 at the home of her daughters in Montrose, IA. She was born November 18, 1918 in Argyle, IA, the daughter of Everett and Bessie Dains Malloy. She was united in marriage to Edgar Ross Hatfield on September 22, 1934 in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1947. She then married John Speake in Palmyra, MO on October 3, 1949. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1995. For thirty years she did home laundry. She then worked at Sheller Globe for nineteen years retiring in 1975. Dolores received special care by her daughter Sandie and granddaughter Elissa Chaney. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting and sewing. She made and sewed many of her family members clothes. She was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by two daughters, Sandie Finley and her husband James of Montrose, IA, and Joyce Ewing of Burlington, IA, two sons, Jerry L. Hatfield of Ft. Madison, IA, and John Phillip Speake and his wife Linda of Burlington, IA, daughter in law, Judy Hatfield Predmore and her husband Al of Keokuk, IA, nineteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren, a brother Tom Malloy and his wife Janet of Phoenix, AZ, a sister Norma Cattish and her husband Jerry of Rancho Cordoba, CA, three sisters in law, Barbara Mead of Montrose, IA, Sada "Veral" McComb of Farmington, IA, and Viva Bragg of LaPlatte, MO, and many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her step father, Everett Beatty, son Robert Hatfield, grandchildren, Bobby Hatfield and Angel Becerra, great granddaughter, Jennifer Chaney, four brothers Elmer Malloy, John Malloy, Tom Malloy and Edward Malloy, and four sisters, Eudora Beaird, Verda Dains, Ada Kay and Dorothy Trone, and daughter in law, Jackie Kline. Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Charleston Cemetery in rural Donnellson, IA. There was visitation. Memorials may be made to the VA Hospital.
