Della L. Johnson, 94, of Keokuk died Thursday, May 28, 2015 at River Hills Village in Keokuk.
She was born November 26, 1920 in Keokuk the daughter of John and Eva Knight Orth. On August 28, 1953 she was united in marriage to Clarence L. "Spud" Johnson in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1996.
Della graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1940.
She had been employed as medical clerk at Graham Hospital in Keokuk. She then was employed at the office of Dr. Ambery and retired in 1986.
She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Keokuk and a member of AARP.
Della enjoyed going on camping trips and traveling with her husband. She adored her dogs and loved to crochet. Della cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She left behind many treasured memories.
She is survived by three sons, Michael D. Johnson and his wife Julia of Frostproof, FL, John L. Johnson and his wife Cathy of Keokuk and Thomas L. Johnson and his wife Brenda of Marshalltown, IA, one daughter, Christine D. Cullen of Cincinnati, OH eight grandchildren, Sara Harrison (Matt), Denise Jones (John), Andrew Johnson (LeeAnn), Claire Dundore (Brandon), Emily Taylor (Jason), Bradley Johnson(Cara), Dana Oetker (Andy) and Aaron Johnson (Sierra), sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Minnie and Nellie and one brother, John Thomas.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Reverend David Turner officiating. Burial will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk.
Visitation will be held after 1 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home with family meeting with friends from 4-6 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Humane Society or First Christian Church in Keokuk.
