IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dawna
Gundy
May 15, 1965 – May 16, 2025
Dawna Gundy, 60, of Keokuk, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital. Even in death, Dawna's generous spirit lived on—she gave the gift of life to three people through organ donation, including the brother of a close family friend.
She was born May 15, 1965 in Dallas, TX the daughter of Frank Hernandez and Eugenie Arnold. She was raised by John Hanson and Eugenie.
In 1983, Dawna was united in marriage Mark Gundy, and together they built a beautiful life rooted in love and family. They raised two daughters, Ann Fraise (Aaron) and Sarah Barnes (Josh), and welcomed two sons, Robert Gundy in 1984 and Dylan Gundy in 1996.
Throughout their years of commitment, Dawna loved opening their home to her many nieces, nephews, and later her seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild, all of which she cherished deeply.
Dawna dedicated thirty years at Dial, forming many lasting friendships, especially her best friend Pearl Philp.
A natural storyteller with a sharp sense of humor, Dawna could light up any room with her laughter. She loved to cook, enjoyed puzzles and crime dramas, and was especially fond of oldies music. But above all, her greatest devotion was to her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Mark Gundy, two daughters, Ann Fraise (Aaron) and Sarah Barnes (Josh), two sons, Robert Gundy and Dylan Gundy, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters, Yolanda Skinner and Debbi Seabold of Keokuk, Lori Bailey (Ronald) of Gunbarrel, TX, Renee Hernandez and her late husband Poncho of Arlington, TX, and Roberta Sifeuntes (Robert) of Gunbarrel, TX, sister-in-law, Heather Hanson of Ft. Myers FL, two brothers, Scott Hanson (Mary), Romain Hernandez (LaLa), and her father, Frank Hernandez of Texas.
