David L. Lally, 66, of Keokuk, IA died Monday, August 5, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, IA. He was born September 11, 1946 in Keokuk the son of Bernard and Arlene Mackie Lally. On July 28, 2011 he was united in marriage to Sharon Kline Brown in Keokuk. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Master Chief Petty Officer David Lynn Lally II and his wife Sandy, who is currently stationed in Japan and Douglas Lynn Lally and his wife Danni of Germany, one step-daughter, Kathy Nelson of Payson, IL, one step-son, Chad Brown of Keokuk, four grandchildren, Marissa Lally, Brianna Lally, Jacob Lally and Dylan Lally, eight step-grandchildren, Michelle, Stephanie, Gregory, Sean, Caulin, Laine, Justice and Lathan and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Danny Lally, Doug Lally and Dennis Lally. David was a veteran of the United States Navy. He enlisted in the Navy right after his graduation from high school in 1966 and retired in 1988 after twenty-two years of service to his country. During his career he served as a medical field service technician in Vietnam from 1968-1969. After his retirement from the military, David attended Southeastern Community College where he received his Licensed Practical Nursing degree. David had been employed at the Keokuk Convalescent Center and River Hills Village in Keokuk for fourteen years, retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Tri State Gun Club, National Rifle Association and AARP. David enjoyed target shooting with his SKS rifle and going camping. When David wanted to relax, he would find time to parachute. A Graveside service with military rites were held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday,. August 15th, 2013 at the Keokuk National Cemetery.
