David Scott Elder, 40, of Springfield, MO, formerly of Kahoka, MO, died Saturday, August 19, 2006 at his home. He was born on September 11, 1965 in Keokuk, IA, the youngest son of Gerald and Margaret Glasgow Elder. After graduation from High School in Kahoka, MO, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in the Azores and traveled to Spain and Portugal, then was stationed at the Whitman Air Force Base where he was honorably discharged. David moved to Springfield, MO nine years ago. He loved the Ozarks. David joined the Methodist Church in Wayland, MO and received the Lord when he was a teenager. He loved to go camping, fishing and enjoyed buying antiques and going to flea markets and garage sales. David could make anybody laugh, acting silly and making jokes. He was a special guy, sweet and kind to everyone. He will be missed by his friends and family and by his dog, Curtis who was his good pal. David is survived by his parents, Gerald and Margaret Elder of Willard, MO, three brothers, Steve Elder of Theodosia, MO, Dan Elder of Ozark, MO, and James Elder and his wife, Colleen of Kahoka, MO, one sister, Julie Gregory and her husband Jerry of Springfield, MO, step grandmother, Mary L. Glasgow of Montrose, IA, nieces, Jena Elder, Tayna Otte and her husband Heath, of Canton, MO, Ashley Evans and her husband Kyle of Ashgrove, MO, Stacie Gregory of Ozark, MO, Sarah and Emilie Elder of Keokuk, IA, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, including his good friend, Jeff Yound and his wife Nelsie and their son of Ohio, whom he was stationed with in the Air Force and remained good friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Beulah Kitson Edwards, step-grandfather, Perry Kitson, maternal grandfather, Raymond Glasgow, paternal grandparents, Iva and Ben Elder, two aunts, Mary L. Glasgow and Darlene Glasgow Elder, one uncle, Mike Elder, one nephew, Matthew Jones Elder, two cousins, Eddie Aldridge and Traci Brookes. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2006 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO. with Rev. Dan Deatrick officiating. Burial will be in the Chambersburg Cemetery, rural Kahoka, MO. There will be no visitation.
