Danny A. Staley, 62, of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, February 14, 2008 peacefully in his home after a long illness, surrounded by his family.
He was born on December 9, 1945 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Ralph and Emma Chitwood Staley. He was united in marriage to Sandra Dray on February 13, 1965. He later married Marilyn Felgar in January of 1977. They later divorced but remained close friends.
Danny graduated from Hamilton High School with the Class of 1964.
He had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk for thirty-six years until his retirement in 2000.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the South Side Boat Club and a social member of the VFW Post 3508.
He enjoyed playing golf and was proud of the hole in one he once shot. Danny also enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, reading western novels and eagle watching.
He is survived by two daughters Tammy Staley of Albuquerque, NM, and Teresa Burke of Keokuk, one son, Scott Staley of Keokuk, one step-daughter, Lisa Howell of Kahoka, MO, five brothers, Dick Malone of Keokuk, Steve Staley of Ohio, Joe Chitwood of Texas, Mike Chitwood of Atlanta, GA, and Leland Ray Malone of Kansas, two sisters, Jeanie Behnke of Kahoka, MO, Linda Gordan of Kansas, three step-sisters, Patty Stark of Keokuk, Donna Saylors and Janice Keever, one grandson, Keagan Burke of Keokuk, numerous nieces and nephews and a close, long-time friend, Marie Riter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, one brother, Tim Chitwood,one sister, Connie Hardman and one step-sister, Mary Davis.
Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday at the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, IL.
A Memorial was established for the American Cancer Society.
