Obituary

Danny Wayne "Dan" Leffler, 61, of Keokuk, IA died Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on September 24, 1953 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Bennie Wayne and Mary Jane Gilliland Leffler. Dan graduated from Keokuk Senior High School with the Class of 1974. After twenty-six years of loving companionship, Dan was united in marriage to Lois Elaine Dawson on August 9, 2014 in Rand Park in Keokuk. She survives. Other survivors include three step-children, Lawrence L. (Penny) Wagner of Quincy, IL, Loreen E. Wagner of Hamilton, IL and Kelli L. Davis of Keokuk, IA, seven step-grandchildren, fourteen step-great-grandchildren, one brother, Robert L. (Linda) Leffler of Warsaw, IL, one sister, Cheryl L. (Kelly) Denning of Keokuk, four nephews, Mark (Jessica) Denning, Jason (Megan) Denning, Daniel (Trista) Denning, Robert (Patty) Leffler, Jr., one niece, Kim (Dan) Moore, a special adopted sister, Martha Daggs and her husband Roger of Keokuk, several aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-sister, Rosemary Gray. Dan had been employed at Sheller-Globe in Keokuk for ten years and retired in February 1986. He was an enthusiastic member of the Mississippi Rat Pak Car Club and loved taking his 1978 Ford to car shows and visiting with everyone. Dan was an avid collector of diecast vehicles of all kinds and put model cars together for years. He enjoyed watching WWE wrestling, Nascar racing and baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, on television. Dan loved riding his Zenghua trike and handicapped tricycloped around town. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Terry Massey officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Keokuk. Memorials may be made to the Southeastern Renal Dialysis, Lee County Hospice or the Dream Foundation.
