C. Dale McCane, 78, of Keokuk, IA, died Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
He was born on August 7, 1935 in Montrose Township, Montrose, IA, the son of Daniel and Maddie Crowson McCane. Dale met Deanna Sewell in 1974. Having been together since 1974, they were united in marriage on May 15, 1986 and shared 39 wonderful years together. Deanna survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Irma McCane (Mike Tomek) of Kansas City, KS, one step-son, Carl Clay of Ft. Madison, IA, one brother, James (Quetta) McCane of Mt. Pleasant, IA, one sister, Agnes (James) Enty of Pennsylvania and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Ray Miles and one brother, Ronald McCane.
Dale had been employed at St. Louis Die Cast in Keokuk for fifteen years, retiring in 1981.
Dale loved to do auto body work. His work was high quality and the finished cars would look as good as new. He enjoyed growing tomatoes in his backyard and selling them at the Farmer's Market or giving them away to his friends. Dale was a people person and could strike up a conversation with anyone, even a stranger. He always enjoyed having coffee with the guys at the River City Restaurant. Dale was a very beloved husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 13th, 2013at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Albert Sparks officiating.
