Cynthia Jean "Cindy" Schmid, 61 of Keokuk died Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Keokuk Area Hospital. She was born March 11, 1955 in Illinois, the daughter of Paul and Jean Phillips Schmid. She graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1973. Cindy started working at the Plaza Cinema in Keokuk when she was sixteen years old. She continued to work there for over thirty years until it closed and changed management. She loved to watch The Voice and Survivor on television and liked reading suspense novels. Cindy enjoyed sitting outdoors in her yard watching the squirrels, rabbits and birds. She was a loving mother and grandmother and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. A special part of her family were her cats, Holly and Herman who brought her much joy. Cindy is survived by one daughter, Jessica Crowell and her husband Chris of Keokuk, four grandchildren, Sherry, Courtney, Bryce and Todd Crowell, one aunt, Mary Carlson of Keokuk and one nephew, Ryan Schmid of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Kevin Schmid and an infant brother, Anthony Schmid. A Memorial Service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Dan Davis officiating. Memorials may be made to the family.
