Constance "Connie" Symmonds Brisby, 72 of Ottumwa, IA formerly of Keokuk, IA died Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the Ottumwa Hospice House. She was born September 29, 1949 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Richard and Geraldine Oehmigen Symmonds. Connie graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1968 and from Southeastern Community College. On May 1, 1982 she was united in marriage to William Harvey Brisby in Osage Beach, MO. He preceded her in death. Connie had been employed at Keokuk Steel Castings for twenty-five years and later at Lexington Square both in Keokuk. She attended Evangelical Free Church in Keokuk. Connie enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and never missed an opportunity to take off on an adventure. She loved to listen to music and play the piano. Connie was a very independent and strong willed woman who touched the lives of many. She is survived by one son, W. Jered Brisby (Kim) of Hedrick, IA, two grandchildren, Kadence and Reece both of Hedrick, IA, one sister, Vicki Ruhs (Larry) of Keokuk, one brother, Hurshel "Bud" Symmonds (Sherry) of Hamilton, IL, several nieces and nephews and special friend, Bob Hammel of Hamilton, IL. Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents. A visitation was held after 1 p.m. on November 5, 2021 the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with family meeting with friends from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pekin Sports Boosters or Pekin Music Boosters.
