Constance Jo Blum, 61, of Nauvoo, IL, died Friday, November 2, 2012 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA. She was born October 5, 1951 in Carthage, IL, the daughter of Patrick G. and Betty L. Pitford Martin. On August 31, 1973, she was united in marriage to Dale A. Blum in Keokuk, IA. They were reunited in marriage on October 5, 1991 in Wayland, MO. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2012. Connie graduated from Hamilton High School in Hamilton, IL with the Class of 1969 and then attended Burlington Cosmetology School, graduating in 1970. She was baptized in the Bel Air Baptist Church of Keokuk in 1986, married in the Wayland Baptist Church of Wayland, MO. She attended services in both the Wayland Baptist and the Cornerstone Church of Keokuk with her Christian friends and relatives. Included with these were her friends in the Methodist Church, the St. Peter-St. Paul Catholic and the Church of Latter-Day Saints, all of Nauvoo, who supported her in prayer and friendships through her physical battle with cancer. Connie enjoyed a forty-two year career as a hairstylist, first at Regis Hairstylists in Keokuk and lastly at Winning Looks Salon in Nauvoo where, along with owner Shani Bollin, she experienced the friendships of her many clients and co-workers. She was a country woman at heart and enjoyed many creative hobbies. She is survived by her parents, Pat & Betty Martin of Nauvoo, IL, her mother-in-law, Hazel Blum of Kahoka, MO, two brothers, Patrick W. Martin and his wife Kandy and Dennis L. Martin and his wife Penny all of Keokuk, two brothers-in-law, Van A. Blum and his wife Jennifer and Daryl L. Blum and his wife Regina all of Kahoka, two sisters-in-law, Nancy C. Simpson and her husband Lon of Nauvoo, and Nina K. Coons and her husband Jim of Kahoka, thirteen nieces and twelve nephews. She was also preceded in death by one daughter Shannon C. Blum in May of 2000 and her father-in-law, Forrest D. Blum in 2003. A Celebration of Life service was held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 5, 2012 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Jed Linebaugh officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Cornerstone Church of Keokuk and to the family.
