Cleo V. Hemingway, Jr., 60, of Keokuk, Iowa died Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at the Washington County Hospital and Clinics in Washington, Iowa. He was born October 24, 1946 in Keokuk, Iowa the son of Cleo V. and Ester Steele Hemingway. He first married Jeanne Saunders Brooks in June of 1971. They later divorced. He then married Rita Washburn Horton. She preceded him in death. He then married Mary Miller on April 15, 1994 in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives. Other survivors include two step daughters, Sarah Stewart and her husband Eric of Luray, MO, Michell Sweezer and her husband Shawn of Memphis, MO, two step sons, John Herring of Lancaster, MO and Darrell Herring of Wyaconda, MO, eight step grandchildren, Luke, Sierra, and Tressa Stewart, Mary, Ryan and Desera Sweezer, Delaney Yates and Ethan Herring, sister, Virginia Richardson of Hamilton, IL, many friends, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a step daughter Ginger Yates. He worked for the City of Keokuk as the railroad bridge operator for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Keokuk, IA. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and being with family and friends. Graveside services with military rites were held 1:00 p.m., September 18, at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa with Reverend Dale Thomas officiating. Memorials may be made to the family.
