View Video Tribute Christy "Chris" L. Murphy, 54, of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. She was born on December 14, 1954 in Ottumwa, IA, the daughter of Billy and Eloise Belger Beaty. On October 22, 1977, Chris was united in marriage to John Murphy in Fairfax, IA. He survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Tracy Murphy of Cedar Rapids, IA, two sons, Sean Murphy of Cedar Falls, IA and Matthew Murphy of Keokuk, IA, her parents of Fairfax, IA, one sister, Cindy Young and her husband Chuck of Palo, IA one brother, Michael Beaty of Marion, IA, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister Sandy Knight. Chris graduated from Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids, IA with the Class of 1973. She had been employed as Branch Manager at State Central Bank in Keokuk for eleven years. Most recently she had been the owner and operator of Little Charmers Day Care in Keokuk for four years. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk, IA. Chris enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, scrapbooking, crafts and playing computer games. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Thursday at the All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk with Father Paul Connolly officiating. A Christian Vigil Service was held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Look Good FeelBetter Center at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
